The inspector.

The inspector answers "is this ticket real?" without checking anybody in.

What it is for

The scanner is a door tool: every successful scan spends the check-in. That is right at an entrance, and wrong everywhere else.

The inspector reads a code and tells you what it is, leaving the guest's check-in state exactly as it was. Use it for:

• Roving spot checks. Walking a room confirming that people inside are actually ticketed.
• A second entry point that is not a check-in. A bar, a VIP area, a backstage door where you want to see the ticket without recording an arrival.
• Sorting out a dispute at the desk. Reading a guest's ticket while you talk to them, without adding an attendance record that then needs undoing.

Opening it

From the event sidebar, under Operations, choose Inspector. Like the scanner, it opens in its own tab.

What it tells you

Scan a code and the inspector shows the guest behind it, along with:

• their name and email, where one is on file
• their payment status
• the schedules their ticket is valid for
• whether they are flagged

If the code is not a guest of this event, the inspector says the scan failed rather than guessing.

What it does not do

It does not check anyone in, it does not create an attendance record, and it does not change the guest in any way. Scan the same code twenty times and nothing about the guest changes.

If you meant to check the guest in, use the scanner instead.
